I would really like to get input from someone who had bad case of depression (chem imbalance) and recovered by talk therapy ?

I mean I know SSRI’s have side effects especially weight gain (which can be managed). It also save lives. Everywhere I read on internet, people scare the hell out of me, like I am putting some poison in my body. ;(

I don’t know what happened I got really sick last year and all my blood work other scans came out fine but I was getting really bad. So bad that I did not have energy and motivation to even go out to store or anywhere.

After visit to psychiatrist and taking Zoloft (75 mg) along with Concerta, I am capable enough to continue my university which I never thought I would last year.

Now only pshychitrist was able to help me while all other specialists just looked at my reports and said you are fine.
8 months I was living in a nightmare, I was so confused.

Now I go and look around people say its really bad for you and phychiatrist are selling it to make money etc…..

This really disappoints me, maybe they haven’t gone what I have been through.

I appreciate your input. Just wondering if you have gone through this illness. I know there is no test to proove it.

It should not be called just depression, its misleading word. Its not only emotions, it effects everything in your body. It makes you disable if it goes bad.

I have always suffered from depression. I went to a school where I was not taught anything apart from religion, and could not tell my parents because my mum was busy and my dad was unemployed and didn’t care. I have always been ambitious due to the fact that my family are mostly academics. Yet I am never the best because I was handicapped very early on. I also never managed to gain experiences in making friends. I recently thought I got over it when I loved someone and she seemed to back, but I lost her to people I have never liked. I keep wishing I was dead. I tried to talk to the counselor at school but she has never replied because I missed an appointment once. I love being in solitude but I hate it too! I write a lot… But according to several tests I took part in in the internet I am depressed (reaching the second highest bracket). Please please could someone help me and tell me what they think I could do??
